Chateau Ste. Michelle Partners with Local Restaurants to Support Future Northwest Grape Growers and Winemakers

Washington’s founding winery, Chateau Ste. Michelle, is teaming up with Washington restaurants to support the 14th annual “Raise a Glass, Fund a Scholarship” program to benefit Viticulture and Enology programs at Washington State University and other Northwest colleges. You can support future winemakers with a purchase of Chateau Ste. Michelle family of wines, including Domaine Ste. Michelle, Eroica, Col Solare and Tenet and sister winery Erath in Oregon, at some 250 participating restaurants. From October through December, Ste. Michelle will donate $3 per case sold, up to $50,000, to support Northwest universities offering Viticulture and Enology degrees.

“We are proud that our local restaurant community has helped raise $550,000 over the past 14 years to support the next generation of winemakers,” says Ste. Michelle Wine Estates Chief Winemaker, Juan Munoz-Oca. “Local Viticulture and Enology programs are critical to help the Washington wine industry continue to thrive and produce world-class wine for decades to come. This program is even more meaningful this year as we want to help support our local restaurants who are still recovering from the challenges of Covid.”

Launched in 2008, funds raised from the Chateau Ste. Michelle Raise a Glass, Fund a Scholarship help fund scholarships, research, faculty and equipment for Northwest universities offering grape growing and winemaking degrees.

“Some students would not have the opportunity to study here without tuition support such as Raise Your Glass, Fund a Scholarship,” explains WSU Viticulture and Enology Program Director Dr. Thomas Henick-Kling. “These funds go toward the next generation of skilled vineyard and winery employees who will further improve Washington’s distinct, premium wine through practical research.”
