Villa Mt. Eden Introduces Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
New Wine Showcases Key California Growing Region for Varietal
Villa Mt. Eden, which celebrates 130 years of California wine production in 2011, has announced the introduction of a Sonoma Coast appellation Pinot Noir to its acclaimed family of wines. The inaugural 2009 vintage is available now nationwide at a suggested retail price of $20.
Founded in 1881 as Napa Valley’s 11th bonded winery, Villa Mt. Eden’s enduring mission has been to craft a collection of wines that showcase California’s diverse winegrowing regions and vineyards.
Sourced from four highly regarded vineyards in the Carneros, Petaluma Gap, and Russian River areas of the Sonoma Coast AVA, the 2009 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir embodies this mission, showcasing the unique attributes of this renowned Pinot Noir-growing region with a wine that is bright and lively, with beautiful red fruit flavors.
“Along with the Russian River and Santa Maria valleys, the Sonoma Coast is one of the best Pinot regions in California,” said Villa Mt. Eden winemaker Armando De Santiago. “We feel lucky to be able to produce great Pinots from all three of these wonderful AVAs as part of our focus on the distinct terroirs of California.”
The new release also marks the launch of updated packaging, in a signature red berry color for red wines and deep linen for the Chardonnay, which will be rolled out on all of Villa Mt. Eden’s wines as new vintages are released.
“As we commemorate Villa Mt. Eden’s 130th anniversary, it seems fitting to celebrate with a refreshed package that highlights our heritage, quality, and craftsmanship,” said Darcy Storms, Marketing Manager for the winery.
“The handcrafted detailing, updated logo, and rich, elegant color reinforce Villa Mt. Eden’s commitment to the quality of our wines. Adding the wine region maps and more extensive tasting notes on the back label allowed our winemaker to tell a richer story about the wine.”
In addition to the winery’s three Pinot Noirs (sourced from the Sonoma Coast, Russian River Valley, and Bien Nacido Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley), Villa Mt. Eden’s portfolio includes Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay, and a Zinfandel sourced from old vines in Amador County and the Napa Valley.
Villa Mt. Eden’s redesigned website, villamteden.com, will launch later this spring. Filled with lush imagery, history, storytelling, and winery information, the site will provide an outlet for fans to catch up on new releases, learn about the winery’s history and vision, and purchase their favorite wines.
