Two Vines by Columbia Crest Introduces New Packaging

Paterson, Wash.

Two Vines by Columbia Crest, recognized as the leading producer of acclaimed, high-quality wines from Washington state, has introduced new packaging for its Two Vines tier. The first wines to feature the new package include the 2009 Two Vines Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2009 Two Vines Merlot-Cabernet which released nationally in May.

Two Vines refers to Columbia Crest’s method of bilateral trellising which positions grape clusters to receive ideal sun exposure to help produce the ripest grapes and richer, more flavorful wines. The Two Vines series signifies the winery’s core commitment to merge quality, affordability and approachability.

“We believe the memorable, iconic label combined with rich, vivid colors will resonate with consumers and provide a stronger shelf presence,” said Cary Kloster, Senior Marketing Manager for Columbia Crest. “The image of two vines side-by-side on the new label tells a stronger story and clearly illustrates the bilateral trellising method.”

In addition to the new Two Vines label, the wines are also bottled in ECO glass, which is an environmentally friendly glass that is lighter than the previous glass bottle and reduces carbon emissions by an estimated 13% according to the glass supplier.

The Two Vines tier, which includes Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot-Cabernet, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Pinot Grigio, and Riesling will rollout to markets throughout the rest of 2011 and into the beginning of 2012. All wines are available nationally for a suggested retail price of $8 per bottle.

Founded in 1983, Columbia Crest has grown from a small winery in a relatively unknown wine region to one of the most significant wineries in the U.S. and a major force behind Washington state’s emergence as a world class wine region. In 2009, Wine Spectator magazine named the Columbia Crest 2005 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon the No. 1 Wine in the World on its Top 100 list, the first time a wine from Washington state has received the ranking. Over the past 13 years, 16 Columbia Crest wines have been named to the Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list. More information about the winery can be found at columbia-crest.com.
