Esk Valley Estate Wines Launched On-Premise in United States

The wines of New Zealand’s Esk Valley Estate have just been launched nationally in the United States. Esk Valley is a boutique, small production winery in Hawkes Bay where things are done by hand. The commitment to hard work, traditional methods, and local knowledge result in wines that reflect the true character of their distinct growing regions.

Esk Valley Estate entered the U.S. Market with three offerings, which will be on-premise only. The wines are:

  • 2010 Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough ($15.99 SRP
  • 2010 Chardonnay, Hawkes Bay ($19.99 SRP
  • 2009 Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec, Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay ($19.99 SRP)
  • Fruit for these wines is sourced from two of the best and most distinct winegrowing sites in New Zealand: the Gimblett Gravels area of Hawkes Bay, where the Esk Valley Estate is located; and from Marlborough, New Zealand’s most famous wine region. All of Esk Valley’s wines are hand-crafted by Winemaker Gordon Russell, using the same traditional methods of its founders since the 1930’s.

In Gordon’s words, “Esk Valley is quite unique as a boutique winery partly because many of the techniques that we use and the approach we take have been determined by the winery itself; the concrete vats, the layout of the buildings, the absence of technology – all of it means that we’ve had to make wine in a simple, honest, hands-on way.”
