Italy’s Santa Cristina Introduces Two New Wines in U.S.
In 1946, Niccolò Antinori introduced the first Santa Cristina wine. Made in Tuscany for over 65 years, Santa Cristina has become a benchmark Italian wine, thanks to continuous quality and innovation efforts at the winery and in the estate vineyards.
Santa Cristina is currently introducing two new wines to the U.S. market – the Santa Cristina 2011 Bianco and the 2010 Santa Cristina Rosso (which is taking the place of the Santa Cristina Sangiovese). These releases build on its 2011 efforts to bring a classic new look and more modern wine style to the market.
These new Santa Cristina wines reflect a contemporary evolution of the classics, carefully balancing tradition and innovation. Combining Italian soul with modern vitality and flavor, these wines are extremely versatile and perfect for everyday enjoyment.

Additional Background:
Santa Cristina was originally introduced in 1946 as a Chianti Classico by Piero Antinori’s father, Niccolo. With the passage of the 1984 DOCG laws requiring lower vineyard yields, Chianti Classico grapes became so complex and rich that they required more aging than this fruity fresh wine should have to maintain its style and character. With the 1987 vintage, Santa Cristina moved away from the Chianti Classico designation and with the 1994 vintage, Antinori began including 10% Merlot to the blend to add soft, open fruit nuances to the wine.
