Marchesi Antinori Debuts Cantinetta Antinori in New York City With a Pop-Up Restaurant at the Mondrian SoHo

New York, NY

Marchesi Antinori, the family-owned Italian wine company that has been making wine for more than 625 years, is pleased to bring its critically acclaimed Cantinetta Antinori to New York City for a four day pop-up restaurant and wine experience at the Mondrian SoHo, 9 Crosby Street, from October 3rd to October 6th, 2012.

For the first time ever, the famed Cantinetta Antinori embarks on American soil, transforming the Mondrian SoHo’s Enoteca space into a true Tuscan affair and giving diners a rare opportunity to taste the sumptuous cuisine of Cantinetta Antinori’s Chef Lorenzo Dimartino and be surrounded by décor that not only reflects the Cantinetta Antinori restaurant but also Antinori family’s history.

For a price of $165 (per person, including tax and gratuity), guests will be able to indulge in an authentic four-course Tuscan menu designed entirely around wine pairings from the legendary Antinori family’s historic estates. A reception will feature an aperitivo of Montenisa Brut Rosé, followed by a seated dinner featuring paired wines to include: Castello della Sala Bramito del Cervo, Guado al Tasso Il Bruciato and the flagship Super-Tuscan Tignanello. Diners will also have the chance to meet the 26th Generation of the Antinori family, daughters of Marchese Piero – Alessia and Allegra Antinori – who, along with their sister Albiera, help run the venerable family business.

Cantinetta Antinori opened in the heart of Florence in 1957. Additional locations were added in Zurich and Vienna in 1997 and in Moscow in 2005. At each Cantinetta Antinori location, locals and visitors from around the world can experience the flavors of Tuscany. One can taste, by the glass or the bottle, the iconic wines of Antinori, including older vintages that are difficult to find elsewhere. The menu features authentic Tuscan cuisine, many made with ingredients often grown on the Antinori family estates.

Craig Claiborne once noted in the New York Times Sunday Magazine, “The best meal we had in Italy was in a small restaurant in Florence, Cantinetta Antinori”. Terry Weeks, in Gourmet Magazine, said “a stylish atmosphere in which Florentine ladies often take a bit of lunch, not to mention wine aficionados from around the world.”

From Wednesday, October 3 through Saturday, October 6, there will be two seatings of the Cantinetta Antinori: 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Reservations can be made by contacting: 212.389.0000.
