ANEW Wines Names K.D. Organ Winemaker
Woodinville, Wash.
Washington's ANEW wines recently named K.D. Organ as its new winemaker. Launched in 2013, ANEW features a Riesling, Pinot Grigio and Rosé from Washington state. ANEW wines are crafted by Chateau Ste. Michelle, Washington’s founding winery.
Organ has more than 10 years of winemaking experience in Washington state. She has been with Chateau Ste. Michelle since 2008 as Assistant Winemaker. K.D. will oversee the blending of the ANEW varietals.
“I am excited to take on the responsibility of creating ANEW wines.” says Organ. “My goal for ANEW wines is to showcase the amazing pure fruit intensity and refreshing natural acidity of Washington fruit. I want these wines to be beautifully balanced and easy to enjoy on their own or as a great complement to many foods.”
K.D. attended Washington State University and majored in Agricultural Science with emphasis in Viticulture and Enology. She graduated in 2004, and joined Snoqualmie, Chateau Ste. Michelle’s sister winery, as an enology intern that year. She then moved to Covey Run as a lab technician for three years before joining Chateau Ste. Michelle in 2008.
“Winemaking is my passion because it embodies the creativity of art, the mystique of history, and the methodology of science,” says Organ. “I love working in Washington wine country because we’re still young as a growing region, and there’s still so much to learn.”
The ANEW Riesling offers ripe fruit flavors, heightened aromatics and crisp acidity. The wine is sourced from top Riesling vineyards in Eastern Washington. The ANEW Pinot Grigio is light and flavorful on the palate with beautifully balanced natural acidity. The Pinot Grigio is sourced from the coolest sites of the Yakima Valley of Washington and offers bright characteristics of Asian pear, melon and a touch of tropical fruit. The ANEW Rosé is a crisp, vibrant and dry style Rosé, made with a blend of Syrah and Sangiovese.
