Chateau Ste. Michelle to Debut new Columbia Valley Rosé

Washington state’s founding winery, Chateau Ste. Michelle, will release a new Columbia Valley Rosé nationally on March 1. To tap into the popularity of rosé, Chateau Ste. Michelle returns to its roots, as one of the first varietals the winery released was a Grenache Rosé in 1967.
The beautifully pale pink wine is a dry, crisp, elegant style rosé crafted from a blend of 98 percent Syrah and 2 percent Merlot from Washington’s Columbia Valley. The Syrah grapes underwent gentle pressing and the juice spent a limited time on the grape skins to deliver the perfect pale pink color. The wine offers bright aromas of watermelon and raspberry with flavors of wild strawberry, citrus zest and hints of melon.
“We’re excited to introduce our new Columbia Valley Rosé and think people are really going to enjoy it,” said Bob Bertheau, Chateau Ste. Michelle head winemaker. “This is a refreshing, balanced wine that is perfect on its own, or with foods such as grilled meats and fish, light pastas and a variety of cheeses. I like to say that our rosé is 98 percent Syrah, 2 percent Merlot and 100 percent delicious. We can’t wait for people to try it.”
The winery produced 56,000 cases of the inaugural 2017 vintage featuring a modern tapered burgundy bottle with a Stelvin screw cap finish. The Chateau Ste. Michelle 2017 Columbia Valley Rosé will be available at retailers nationwide with a suggested retail price of $11.
