Chateau Ste. Michelle Hires New Executive Chef
Woodinville, Wash.
Washington’s founding winery Chateau Ste. Michelle is pleased to announce the addition of a new Executive Chef, Michael Jordan. Chef Michael will oversee the winery’s culinary program at its Woodinville winery, outside of Seattle.
Originally from Iowa, Chef Michael gained a wealth of experience after attending the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), where he worked with many cuisines in several different regions of the United States.
From American cuisine in the Midwest, to Creole in the New Orleans’ French Quarter with Chef Emeril Lagasse, to fine dining at his very own restaurant, Rosemary’s in Las Vegas, Chef Michael Jordan’s willingness to learn, experiment, and grow is what makes him an exciting addition to Chateau Ste. Michelle.
Other than developing gourmet lunch and dinner menus paired with Chateau Ste. Michelle and Eroica wines, Chef is looking forward to creating new experiences for food-focused guests. “I’d like to see us host intimate food experiences, such as cooking demonstrations and cheese pairings,” says Chef. “I want to instill memories into people. You may not remember what you eat, but you will remember your experience, and how you felt about it.”
Chef Michael takes a thoughtful approach to wine and food pairings – and enjoys the close collaboration with winemakers to help build an inspiring tasting menu. He enjoys the quality of Washington wines, believing the land beautifully expresses its terroir – which ultimately feeds his enthusiasm for establishing the ultimate wine and food destination in the Pacific Northwest.
When asked about his culinary philosophy, Chef Michael said his approach is to “keep your food simple. We’re one of the most agriculturally diverse states, so let your ingredients speak for themselves. Understand where the food comes from, and let nature do a lot of the work for you.”
