The World's Greatest Riesling Partnership Turns 10

Time to Reminisce, to Look Ahead, and to Celebrate! Woodinville, Wash.

Chateau Ste. Michelle and Ernst Loosen are set to host a special 10-Year Eroica Anniversary Dinner on Monday, August 10, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. Ernst Loosen, the world's best known ambassador of Riesling, will visit Seattle to help host a singular evening celebrating the 10th anniversary of the visionary Eroica Riesling partnership between Dr. Loosen estate of Germany and Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington state at The Herbfarm restaurant in Woodinville, Washington.

“This will be a night to remember,” noted The Herbfarm Proprietor Ron Zimmerman. “We have been planning this 9-course dinner for months. Each course has been created to pair with Chateau Ste. Michelle and Dr. Loosen Rieslings. We’ve even included in the line-up one of only three of the world’s magnums of the very first release of Eroica "Single Berry Select."

The 10-year-old vintage, retrieved from the depths of The Herbfarm cellar, was rated 97 points by Wine Spectator magazine.

As two of the world's leading Riesling winemakers, Chateau Ste. Michelle’s winemaker Bob Bertheau and Ernst Loosen will guide guests as they explore the Old and New World Rieslings. After a glass or two, both will share stories -- both the good and the bad!--about what they’ve learned over these past 10 years. Learn and laugh as you hear how they’ve worked, puzzled, and refined their thoughts, vineyards, and winemaking techniques toward their shared goal of making the best Riesling in America.

Food takes no back seat at this rousing dinner as Herbfarm’s Executive Chef Keith Luce creates and serves his no-holds-barred menu of Northwest foods to match the parade of Rieslings.

This one-night-only dinner is $195 plus service and tax. ($179 for Chateau Ste. Michelle Vintage Reserve Club members.) Seating is limited to the first 60 guests.

This is an opportunity that comes only once in a decade. To make your reservation, please call The Herbfarm at (425) 485-5300 or visit www.theherbfarm.com.

ABOUT CHATEAU STE. MICHELLE & DR. LOOSEN EROICA RIESLING
Launched in 1999, Eroica is a labor of love for two of the world’s great Riesling producers. One from the Old World, Dr. Loosen estate of Germany, and the other from the New World, Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington state. An intermingling of Old and New World philosophies and techniques enables the crafting an extraordinary Riesling from Washington state grapes. Named for Beethoven’s Third Symphony, Eroica reflects not only its variety and site, but also its heritage: bold and forward from its Washington roots, elegant and refined from German inspiration.

Chateau Ste. Michelle’s winemaker Bob Bertheau collaborates with Ernst Loosen on everything from site selection, irrigation and canopy management in the vineyards, to determining the final Eroica blend. The partnership produces Eroica Riesling, an elegant off-dry Washington Riesling that has blazed a trail for high-end American Riesling, Single Berry Select Riesling, a decadent dessert wine made in the traditional German Trockenbeerenauslese style and is one of the few TBAs in North America and, in appropriate years, Eroica Riesling Ice Wine.

The 2008 Eroica Riesling marks the 10th vintage and will release nationwide in August 2009.
